• Unique

Every singer is different. Every lesson is different. Every experience is unique. Our sessions evolve around creating a personalized plan to fit your unique needs and goals.

  • Creative

Effective vocal technique is just one of the tools through which we express. Our sessions go beyond vocal technique to encourage style, artistry, and creativity by challenging singers in a safe, supportive environment.

  • Encouraging

To sing your best you need to feel your best. Throughout our sessions, we will work to encourage the development of your confidence and self-efficacy so you can feel free to explore your artistry.

Methodology

The sole reason for technique is to stop the body interfering with the soul’s free expression
— La Meri

Vocal Technique is taught using the same techniques that many well known contemporary singers have adapted over the years (Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Stevie Wonder, and Michael Jackson to name a few!).

Whether you are a singer looking to improve your performance stamina, range or expression, a hobbyist looking to explore your musical prowess, or simply someone who wants to sing in a group without being uncomfortable; developing effective vocal technique will help you to free your voice and embrace creative freedom.

  • Find your unique voice.

  • Improve the consistency across your registers.

  • Create evenness throughout your range by gaining control over your vocal flips, breaks, bridges and/or passagios.

  • Increase your vocal range and stamina.

  • Develop your vocal resonance, strength and tonality.

  • Gain the confidence and awareness to use your voice creatively. Find ways to express yourself through the use of controlled dynamics, vocal texture, colour, flexibility and quality.

  • Develop your artistry through an exploration of style, musicality, musicianship, performance, microphone technique and creativity.

FAQs

How do I schedule and pay for my lesson?

The easiest way to schedule your lesson is through the online booking page. If you are unable to see a suitable time for your session please contact me to discuss so we can find something that works! Lessons can be paid via the booking page.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

There is a 24-hour cancellation policy. Lessons can be cancelled or rearranged using the online booking page. Please remember that the full rate is charged for lessons cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours notice. For more information refer to the Studio T's & C's.

Can we do lessons online?

Absolutely! Online sessions offer the flexibility and freedom that we so often need in our busy performance schedules. Lessons can be conducted online using either zoom or skype. They can be booked online and instructions on where to meet will be sent once your lesson is reserved.

Do I need to prepare anything for singing lessons?

It’s best to have a song to work on in your lessons. This might be something you are performing that may need minute tweaks or something you have been struggling with. If you are a beginner then try to think of something you would like to sing. If you are struggling then I can help but the most important thing is it is something you love!

Will lessons change my style?

Change can be such a scary word, can’t it? My aim is not to change your style, we don’t need to make you fit into a mould - we need to release you from it. Taking vocal lessons gives you access to tools you may not have had before, allowing you to explore your artistic style with more technical freedom and creativity.

What if I’m tone deaf?

Let’s not jump to conclusions now, shall we? Although this is a genuine concern for many people, the chances are that unless you talk monotonically, you’re more than likely not tone deaf. Learning to pitch is the same as learning any other skill. Correct vocal technique, repetition and time can help you to improve your pitching, confidence and skill.
